Budweiser Unveils ‘American Icons’ for Super Bowl LX
In a move that blends nostalgia with patriotic grandeur, Budweiser has officially released its 2026 Super Bowl commercial, titled ‘American Icons.’ The spot, which marks the brand’s 48th appearance in the Big Game, is the centerpiece of a year-long celebration honoring Budweiser’s 150th anniversary and the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States.
The Story: An Unlikely Bond
Directed with the cinematic sweeping style the brand is known for, the 60-second commercial follows the heartwarming friendship between a Clydesdale foal and an American Bald Eagle chick. The narrative begins at a winter-swept stable where the young horse discovers an injured eaglet. Over the course of the ad, the two animals grow together, supporting each other through ‘flying lessons’ and changing seasons. The climax features a stunning visual of the fully grown eagle riding on the Clydesdale’s back, its wings spread wide to create the silhouette of a mythical pegasus.
Heritage and Anniversaries
The campaign, themed ‘Made of America,’ leans heavily into Budweiser’s deep-rooted history. Todd Allen, SVP of Marketing for Budweiser, stated that the ad is intended to leave fans ‘awestruck and proud.’ To complement the television spot, Budweiser is also launching a limited-edition ‘Heritage Can Series’ featuring designs from different eras of its 150-year history. The ad concludes with the emotional tagline: ‘For 150 Years, This Bud’s For You.‘
Teaser Campaign Success
Prior to the full release on January 26, 2026, Budweiser built anticipation with two teaser clips titled ‘Stable‘ and ‘Foal.’ These clips featured the iconic horses investigating a mysterious creature hiding under a bucket, which was later revealed to be the eaglet. Early reaction from critics and fans suggests the ad is a strong contender for the top spot on the USA TODAY Ad Meter, a title Budweiser previously reclaimed in 2025.
Viewing Information
Fans can watch ‘American Icons’ in its entirety during the second quarter of Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026, as the game broadcasts live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
